24th-Dec-2006 02:32 pm - Awesome weekend
On Friday, I had plans to go to a wedding, the wedding of a cousin of Emmanuel. At noon I received a call that me change the plans. Rewind to a month ago in Zacatecas and at some point I heard a guy talk about going to Juárez in December. I offered him to stay at my home if he came over here. Well, he called on Friday to inform me he (Octavio, aka "el mala") and his friend (Alejandro, aka "el french") would be arriving at 8pm. Funny thing is that I saw Octavio online a little over a week ago and I said hi and he said "deja de estar chingando" (stop bothering me), which was weird, but he told me, a lot of his friends have his hotmail password and that it wasn't him.

Picked them up at the bus station at 8pm, then we went to get some tacos (at chiri's). They were excellent (as usual). We then went downtown to Juárez street. We couldn't get in anywhere because Octavio forgot his ID. When I got back to the car and left the parking lot, I had the idea of Octavio using my mexican ID, while I would use my Texas ID. So we went to a bar at Lincoln Avenue called "Murphy's" (an Irish pub). The technique worked. There we were having a very interesting conversation, Alex has lived in Vietnam, Malaysia and several parts of Mexico, plus both of them have hitchhiked all over the place. They also are quite funny and I was having a great time. At about 1:30am I get a text-message that says "what are you doing at Murphy's?" , so I turned around trying to see, who had sent it. I checked who sent it on the phone, then went around the place to find her. Nicia joined in the conversation with Alex, Octavio and me. It was fun, then Lencho called after getting out of Mulata and joined in too.
When we left, I had to give a ride to Lencho because he left the keys in his car. Then I gave him a ride back to his car.
Went to sleep at 4:30am.

Woke up at 8:30am, because I was picking up Nicia at 9am to go Xmas shopping. The line at the bridge was only one hour and it passed fast (it's much easier to cross with company, conversation makes time travel faster). We went to eat breakfast at a buffet place, normal places had long waiting lines. Then we went shopping to Cielo Vista for a couple of hours, then Barnes and Noble.

We ate dinner at a nice vietnamese restaurant that I like very much. Then, I went to visit my uncle, but took the scenic route instead of the freeway, thinking that Nicia might not have seen the city from the great view of the mountain. It was very nice, although very cold for short-sleeves (forgot my jacket).

I was just going to send a fax from my uncle's house, but they had nice dessert and conversation was great as usual, so we stayed for a little over an hour.

On the way back to Juarez, while singing songs in the car, Nicia suggested we should go to a karaoke bar. We did and it was fun. We sang "Summer nights" and "Duelo". The good thing is that while singing, you can't really hear how you sing and since you sing from your table, the rest don't see you, so you can easily imagine that you sang perfectly and unless someone comes up to you and says "you sucked" then there's no way you know. Pretty fun.

Came home, and slept perfectly. Nothing like sleeping after a long day.
