26th-Jul-2007 03:40 am - REU coming to an end
The last two talks were given today. The REU is getting very close to the end. Getting close to having my last meals at Milagrito in a long time. Today I had the Picadillo Plate which I hadn't had before, it was very good.

Instead of playing racquetball I took a long nap. After the nap, I hung out with the REU people at Beazy eating the leftovers (rice, corn, hot dogs) and playing some Ping Pong.

We went bowling today. When we arrived I immediately went to the "Deal or No Deal" arcade game. I picked my favorite number, 12, and took no deal at any moment. At the end where there was either 8 or 200 and they offered 104 tickets I would have taken it, but the machine didn't have tickets, so I went for the glory and I got it. I played some Pac-Man and then Air-Hockey against Desmond (I won of course).

In bowling I finally did a good job, I bowled 107 in the first game to win my lane, although Tyler and Alyssa got a higher score. On the second game I bowled 129 which was the best between the two lanes, but Tyler's 130 in the first game was the best overall. My sister, her boyfriend Carlos, Poncho and Chepo who are in town for the week went bowling as well. Chepo and Poncho seem to be quite good and were on route to beat me, but once I mentioned what they needed to do to beat me, they missed exactly when it counted. Poncho had to spare in the last frame, first he shot 1 and then his shot for the spare seemed good, but one pin remained up (even though it was moved to a side by other pins). It was funny.

After bowling, we ate some donuts from Krispy Kreme and played Spades. Desmond and I lost miserably but it was very fun, every hand had one of the pairs being set.

Now I am up, probably going to read for a couple of hours before we do Milagrito at 6am. The second to last 6am Milagrito run. I will miss this, but my life will be healthier and quite different for the rest of the year.

I feel great right now.
27th-Jun-2007 02:41 am - Mongolian dinner, bowling, Mario 64
Went to HuHot to eat. You pick ingredients and then cooks cook it in front of you, similar to a restaurant I went to in Chicago. I love this idea and what was specially good was that you can go back as many times as you want to get some more. I obviously ate a lot, having three plates and a salad. I filled my dish with pineapple, broccoli, noodles, pork and chicken (second plate I changed to pork and beef), water chestnuts, different sauces. Delicious!

After HuHot we six of us went to bowl, it was the first event of the TetraDeathAlon. The idea is that each of the 14 members of the REU give a game and we compete in that. Nathan's event was Bowling and we played that today. Tomorrow we start with my event, Ping Pong. I was expecting on being second or third place considering I scored 130 last time and only Tyler seemed capable of beating that, but in two tries I bowled a high of 80 being sixth place out of six. Nathan had 135, Robert had 112 (extremely surprising), Tyler had 111, Chrissy had 88, Alyssa 86.

From the moment we were back (11:30pm) to now (2:45am) we have been playing Mario 64. As of this moment we have 95 stars. The goal is to get 100 before going to sleep. We'll do the last 20 tomorrow.
21st-Aug-2006 12:50 pm - Weekend with my grandparents
I haven't been to Chihuahua since October , so I decided to accompany my dad to Chihuahua this weekend. We left Friday evening and arrived at my grandparents house at 11:45pm, it was raining heavily. In parts of the highway we had to drive slow because of the rain. It is impressive how much rain the state has had in the last month. The road to Chihuahua is usually with a view of yellow and sand, but now it is very green. The ride to Chihuahua seemed fast because my dad were talking the whole way. When we arrived there, the street where my grandparents live was full of water, even on the sidewalk, so I had to take my shoes off and walk in the water.

It was great to see my grandparents again, I really missed them. I enjoy seeing my grandmother very much because she is a very optimistic and joyful person. My grandfather is very weak, he is 86 years old.
On Saturday, my aunt cooked my favorite Chihuahua meal, "carne colorada" and my other aunt baked a "Tres Leches" cake with cajeta. I like how they pamper me. In the evening, my cousin Jaime and I went to the bowling alley. Jaime is amazing, he has shot over 200 a couple of times, but on that night he shot 153, 144, 171, 151 and 139. I shot 89, 103, 110, 136, 105. As you can see the fourth game was kind of close, in the ninth frame I had 128 and he had 136. I missed by a millimeter my shot for spare, that would've put a lot of pressure on Jaime for the last frame, but since I missed, he had an easy shot to win. After bowling, Jaime picked up his girlfriend Gloria and we went to eat at Chihuas. Chihuas is a taco place similar to Tacos Orientales, they even have some of the same dishes. I usually order the normal beef tacos, but this night I was feeling adventurous, so I ordered the "Que me Notas" which is a dish with pineapple, sausage, bacon, beef, melted cheese and ham. It was delicious. All those ingredients plus the sauces on the table, mmmm. The only bad thing is that I had trouble sleeping after eating so much.

On Sunday, I spent most of the morning talking about football and fantasy football with Jaime. Jaime is going to NYC in late November, and I will join him to go to a Bills- Chargers game on December 3 on Buffalo. We already bought 6 tickets, although so far we are only 3 people confirmed on going. I might have to sell the other 3.
The ride back to El Paso was quick.
